Log houses are considered traditional - but in the modern version they offer much more than a rustic look. The wall construction presented here combines tried and tested materials with contemporary building physics and ecological standards. The result is a solid timber construction that does not require any building chemicals and meets the highest energy requirements.
The outer wall consists of a 12 cm thick block plank, followed by wood fiber insulation, an installation level for electrical engineering and an inner plank - made entirely of wood. No foils, adhesives or glues are used at all. The wall structure is therefore not only ecological, but also free of harmful substances and open to diffusion. At the trade fair Heim und Handwerk, this construction method will be presented as an example of healthy living and sustainable building. It creates a healthy indoor climate and at the same time stands for durability.
Despite its traditional appearance, the log house easily meets the requirements of modern energy standards. From the Building Energy Act to Efficiency House 55 or 40, everything is possible - even construction as a passive house is possible. This means that classic timber construction can be combined with future-oriented energy efficiency.
Thanks to the high level of prefabrication in the factory, assembly on the construction site can take place quickly. This not only reduces the construction time, but also has a positive effect on the overall costs. In terms of price, the log house is therefore on a par with high-quality masonry construction or prefabricated timber constructions.
We use almost exclusively local mountain wood from the Salzburger Land region - supplied by the Austrian Federal Forests. The wood comes from sustainably managed forests at altitudes above 800 meters and is only harvested in winter. Processing at the sawmill on Lake Attersee guarantees short distances and high quality raw material.
The modern log house combines regional materials, ecological construction and energy efficiency. The combination of solid wood and intelligent wall construction offers a sustainable and contemporary alternative to traditional house construction - without compromising on comfort or cost.
