Sustainable furniture made from German oak and of high quality? At Heim + Handwerk, das kleine b will be showing how wooden tables, wardrobes and shelves keep rooms open and at the same time set precise accents. The furniture appears restrained, but is clearly designed and consistently thought through to the end.
The furniture manufacturer from the north is bringing a complete living situation to Heim und Handwerk. Everything that can be seen on the stand is also used in everyday life. This means that design is not staged, but lived. The furniture blends into existing rooms without dominating or remodeling them. Conserving materials is not a buzzword, but the basis of the design. The pieces do not interfere with the architecture, they respect existing structures. There are no solid wall solutions, no closed surfaces, no room-dividing furniture. The floor remains free, the wall visible.
The coat rack is designed as a wooden frame, supplemented by an attached shoe rack that appears almost invisible. It hangs freely, floats in the room and remains movable. This free-swinging character lends the furniture a lightness that can be felt in everyday life. The movement is part of the concept. When Jens Baumann leaves the house in the morning, the wardrobe swings slightly - a quiet, almost incidental detail that gives the furniture a personal touch. Function and design are directly intertwined here.
The standing desk also follows the principle of openness. It leans against the wall, is not fixed in the room and can be moved at any time. If the light changes or visitors arrive, the desk can simply be moved to another location or removed from the room. The standing desk is made of solid oak from the region. Steel is integrated into the table leg to enable the delicate shape without losing stability. The top made of furniture linoleum complements the wood with a restrained, functional surface.
The idea of free-swinging is continued in the shelving. Bookshelves, CD shelves and record stands are open in design and deliberately free-standing. They appear light, remain accessible and do not have closed back panels or heavy carcasses. Sustainability is particularly evident here in the workmanship. All materials are fully utilized, nothing remains unused. The furniture is designed to be so robust that it will not be damaged even if it is dropped. This results in a quality that allows it to be passed on - instead of being quickly replaced.
