KölnMesse is operated by the internationally active trade fair company Koelnmesse GmbH. The company was founded in Cologne in 1922 and today has around 960 permanent employees. The renowned trade fair organizes around 80 international trade fairs, exhibitions, special events, guest events and more than 2000 conferences every year. Messe Köln is an important economic factor for the entire Cologne region. It secures over 10,000 jobs. The exhibition grounds cover an area of 284,000 square meters. It has 11 connected exhibition halls, two high-rise buildings and an outdoor area of around 100,000 square meters, which can be used flexibly and also offers enough space for big ideas. Most of the KölnMesse exhibition grounds are located in Cologne's Deutz district on the right bank of the Rhine in the city center. This has earned the trade fair the name City Fair in the Heart of Europe. The exhibition grounds have excellent regional and long-distance transport connections. Cologne's main railway station is one kilometer away on the other side of the Rhine and KölnMesse can be reached from Cologne/Bonn Airport in eleven minutes by public transport. Connections to the airports in Düsseldorf and Frankfurt am Main are also guaranteed in a short time with the ICE.
