KOYA modular house: modular living space extension

Running out of living space? If there is still free space in the garden, a modular house can be an interesting option. At Heim+Handwerk 2022 in Munich, the modules from KOYA were an eye-catcher that we took a closer look at. On show was a solution that allows additional space to be created independently of the existing building.

One room, many possible uses

The KOYA module is designed as a stand-alone room. The cube can be used as a tiny house, home office or garden shed as required. The transparent glass surfaces provide plenty of daylight and create an open atmosphere that is very different from traditional extensions or garden sheds. At the Heim+Handwerk trade fair, KOYA will be demonstrating how architecture and design can be combined in a compact room concept. The cube as a room appears clearly structured, reduced and deliberately minimalist.

  • Independent room module for different uses
  • Large glass surfaces for plenty of daylight
  • Compact, clearly designed room concept
This creates additional living space without having to interfere with the existing building structure.

Target groups in the private and commercial sectors

The modules are aimed at different user groups. Private individuals can use the Cube as a home office, fitness room, sauna or additional retreat in the garden. At the same time, the concept also appeals to tradespeople who want to create additional office space on their company premises. For companies in particular, the module can be a way of using existing space efficiently and making working environments more attractive without constructing a traditional building.

  • Private use in the garden as additional living space
  • Use as a home office or leisure area
  • Modular office solutions for companies
The modular house covers both private and commercial requirements.

Modular construction with design freedom

The construction method shown is based on a steel skeleton structure. This is designed with rigid connections and allows modular expansion. The design creates a large amount of column freedom in the interior, which enables flexible floor plans. The modular construction method has established itself in recent years and is primarily used where quickly usable space is required. At the trade fair, it is clear that KOYA is taking this approach further in terms of design.

  • Steel skeleton construction as a load-bearing structure
  • Great freedom of columns in the interior
  • Modularly expandable system
This means that the space can be used and adapted flexibly.

Customizable design and surfaces

One striking feature is the design of the outer shell. The façade has a flush design with few projections. Glass surfaces and wall panels merge seamlessly into one another and create a calm, homogeneous appearance. The surfaces can be individually configured so that the module can be visually adapted to different environments. This means that the Cube can be integrated into existing properties in both a modern and understated way.

  • Flush façade design without strong offsets
  • Fluent transition between glass and panels
  • Individually configurable surfaces
The design thus remains flexible without losing the clear basic character of the module.

Cost framework and expansion options

The entry-level price for the KOYA Cube is around 18,000 euros. Depending on the size, equipment and desired use, additional costs may be incurred. At Heim und Handwerk, it becomes clear that the modular design allows for step-by-step expansion. This means that the investment can be planned and adapted to actual requirements, rather than having to make large investments from the outset.

  • Entry-level price from around 18,000 euros
  • Price depends on equipment and size
  • Step-by-step expansion possible
The modular house offers a flexible solution for growing space requirements in both private and commercial environments.
