With the new FL series, Palfinger shows how everyday practicality, safety and technological advancement can be combined in a meaningful way in truck-mounted forklifts. The trucks are available as side-seat or center-seat versions and can be operated with either diesel or electric drive. The series was developed for demanding use in logistics, transportation and distribution - with a focus on efficiency and user-friendliness.
Palfinger has designed the side seat unit with a well thought-out seating position: the driver can not only swivel the seat in comfortably, but also sits rotated five degrees to the right. This orientation is specifically designed to make frequent reversing more comfortable and less physically demanding. This has clear advantages, particularly in distribution transport, where drivers regularly have to get out and maneuver.
A robust safety bar and a large roof provide additional safety. Speed cameras and flashers that radiate to the front and side ensure better visibility on the road - a sensible measure for operation in mixed traffic areas.
In addition to the diesel version, a fully electric drive is also available, in which Palfinger relies on an electro-hydraulic system. This combines the precision of electronic control with the power transmission of classic hydraulics. The built-in lithium-ion battery is designed so that two complete loading and unloading processes are possible every day - even in warmer temperatures. A version with a smaller battery is available for applications over longer distances, which can be recharged via the truck's on-board power supply while driving. This means that the system is also suitable for tours with several stops without restricting the operating time.
A key technical feature of the FL series is the exceptionally large steering angle. With 90 degrees to the left and right, it allows turning movements in the smallest of spaces. This facilitates manoeuvring in confined loading areas, reduces the space required and minimizes time-consuming repositioning. In combination with the stable driving behavior, the FL series is therefore particularly suitable for urban locations or internal constrictions.
With the center seat unit, drivers also benefit from an optimum line of sight: the position is chosen so that the driver has an overview of both sides of the vehicle and the outer contour at all times - an advantage when approaching loading ramps and when working in a confusing environment.
The service-friendliness of the FL series is reflected in many details. All relevant maintenance points - from the oil filter and coolant to the diesel filter - are arranged for easy access. This means that maintenance work can be carried out quickly and in a minimum of time.
The central arrangement of the lubrication points for the steering is particularly practical: instead of hidden individual points, all the necessary points can be lubricated together - a clear advantage for fleet operators with tight maintenance intervals. This not only lowers operating costs, but also reduces unscheduled downtimes.
The FL series has been developed primarily for Central European markets. The focus is on Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia and Poland. At the same time, demand is growing in overseas markets such as Australia, South Africa and the Middle East - especially where robust static masts are in demand. The modular design of the FL series makes it possible to react flexibly to different conditions - both in terms of duration of use as well as infrastructure and loading logistics.
