Plantera replaces Styrofoam and plastic with cornmeal

CornPack represents a new generation of sustainable packaging. The material is based on corn semolina, a by-product of food production, and offers an environmentally friendly alternative to Styrofoam, plastic, wood, and cork. A special process creates stable structures that are food-safe, compostable, and versatile – from transport protection to decorative packaging.

CornPack sustainable packaging solution made from corn semolina for industry and trade

CornPack is based on puffed corn semolina with a grain size of between two and six millimeters. Together with a natural binding agent, this creates a physical bond that is reinforced by radio waves. The result is a three-dimensional shape with variable density that can be adapted to suit the application. CornPack is therefore suitable for thermoboxes, press closures, corner protection in the wood industry, and transport protection for the electrical industry. The material structure offers stability without the use of fossil raw materials.

Product packaging is food-safe, certified, and harmless

A key advantage of CornPack is its tested safety. When the corn grits are puffed, mycotoxins and fungal spores are destroyed. Tests and certifications confirm that the material is food-safe. It can therefore be used in contact with food, beverages, and sensitive products. CornPack is completely harmless to humans, children, and animals. In addition to packaging for medicine bottles and sensitive glass products, manufacturers in the wine industry also benefit from using the material for gift packaging and displays.

Packaging from transport to presentation packaging

Its versatility is evident in a wide range of applications: from simple transport trays and corner protectors to high-quality presentation solutions. CornPack can be processed with different densities – lighter structures with around 150 grams per liter for transport, compacted variants with up to 500 grams per liter for durable displays. The uniform surface structure allows it to be used as a decorative element in living areas. CornPack thus combines functionality with design and aesthetics.

Plantera CornPack is compostable, moisture-resistant, and recyclable.

As a natural product, moisture poses a particular challenge. To increase durability, selected product categories are coated with a natural protective film. This does not affect compostability, but increases stability and reduces moisture penetration. CornPack thus remains completely biodegradable and contributes to the reduction of waste and garbage. The combination of functionality and ecological responsibility makes CornPack a sustainable solution for packaging and materials management.

CornPack shows that sustainable innovation does not have to conflict with industrial practicality. The combination of waste recycling, food safety, and compostability sets new standards in the packaging industry. This opens up a wide range of applications for industries such as food, beverages, electronics, and logistics, offering both ecological and economic benefits.
