With Shelf Star and Cup Star Tray, Palm presents two innovative solutions that intelligently combine packaging design and machine engineering. Both systems are designed to combine material savings, flexibility, and recyclability. What makes them special is the ability to erect a wide range of packaging variants on a single machine – without additional set-up times or costly changeovers, which significantly increases production efficiency.
The Shelf Star packaging system features closed edges and a stable stacking mechanism. The packaging can be stacked on top of each other to save space and can be used in a variety of ways in the food sector. Whether bags, folding boxes, or products in the refrigerated section: Shelf Star enables safe presentation and processing.
Various display designs—from ascending variants with stacking tabs to open, bevelled edges with a second level—significantly expand the possible applications in retail. Rear walls for sloping positions are also integrated. All designs can be produced with just one machine, significantly reducing costs and time.
With the Cup Star Tray, Palm shows how significant savings can be achieved in standard packaging in the food retail sector. While conventional yogurt trays offer little potential for optimization, design adjustments have reduced material usage by around 39 percent – with the same number and format. The base area remains unchanged; only the heights and proportions have been specifically optimized. This ensures high stability without compromising functionality and handling.
All packaging is based on 100 percent recycled waste paper. Palm operates a closed loop in which raw materials are continuously recycled. This consistent focus on sustainability results in solutions that combine ecological responsibility with industrial practicality and send a strong signal to customers about resource-saving production.
The development of Shelf Star and Cup Star Tray shows how innovative strength works in the packaging industry. Ideas arise from intensive examination of existing structures, combined with creativity and practical experience. A patent application has already been filed for the Cup Star Tray and is currently under review. Palm thus underscores its role as a pioneer in resource-saving packaging solutions with clear future potential.
