The problem is all too familiar: A parcel is expected, but no one is there when it is delivered. Pick-up stations, neighbors or repeat deliveries are often inconvenient and time-consuming. PAKETSAFE offers an innovative solution that eliminates precisely this problem. At Heim und Handwerk 2016 in Munich, Managing Director Thomas Singer will be presenting the intelligent system, which has already won the “Best Founder Team 2016” award.
The principle is very simple: PAKETSAFE works like a letterbox for parcels. The parcel carrier lifts the lid, causing a robust bag to roll out automatically. The parcel is placed there and then closed with a self-locking lock. "This means that the delivery person doesn't need a key. He simply closes the lock and the parcel is securely stored," explains Singer. The special feature of PAKETSAFE is not only its ease of use, but also its high security standard. The bag is made of two-layer nylon material with an integrated stainless steel mesh net that protects it from being cut open. “You don't stand a chance with a pocket knife,” says Singer. The lock is comparable to high-quality bicycle locks and prevents opportunist theft.
The PAKETSAFE can be mounted flexibly - be it on the house wall, on the garden fence or in a letterbox system. In addition to a stainless steel version, there is also an anthracite-colored version (RAL 7016) that blends in well with modern building facades.
This is where the drop-off authorization comes into play. The recipient issues this once, allowing parcels to be placed securely in the PAKETSAFE. “This way, I can be sure that my parcel will arrive reliably, even if I'm not at home,” explains Singer. In addition to safety, weather resistance was also an important factor in the development. "The bag is made of nylon material, similar to the underside of an inflatable boat. The material is extremely robust and water-repellent. The lid also protects the package from rain," adds Singer.
The main aim of PAKETSAFE is to equip single-family homes, terraced houses and semi-detached houses with a secure parcel acceptance point. However, there are also sophisticated solutions for apartment buildings and companies. For example, the start-up has developed a variant that can be integrated into existing letterbox systems. "The bag is not attached to the wall, but directly to the lid of the letterbox system. When opened, the sack rolls out and enables parcels to be delivered securely," explains Singer.
The initial phase is often a challenge for a start-up, but PAKETSAFE seems to be on the right track. "It's incredibly motivating when I see a parcel being delivered in a PAKETSAFE on my way to work. It shows me that our product is well received and appreciated in everyday life," says Singer proudly. With its innovative and simple solution, PAKETSAFE has its finger on the pulse of the times. The increasing number of online orders makes reliable delivery ever more important - and with this clever system, the classic “delivery problems” could soon disappear into thin air.
