The new all-electric GLC from Mercedes-Benz took center stage at the IAA MOBILITY in Munich. The model brings the familiar GLC DNA into an uncompromisingly electric form and combines striking design, high everyday usability and the latest technology. Mercedes is thus demonstrating that the brand's bestseller also sets standards as an electric version - without compromising on comfort, performance or sustainability.
The GLC presents itself with a striking front section consisting of 942 illuminated squares. They emphasize presence and recognition value. The SUV remains clearly anchored in the Mercedes tradition, recognizable by the classic radiator grille. The side view of the GLC combines a sporty SUV silhouette with a coupé-like roof that conveys dynamism and elegance.
With a load volume of 570 liters and up to 1740 liters with the seats folded down, the GLC offers plenty of space. A special detail is the lowerable load floor, which can be presented 80 millimetres lower to stow bulky items. Despite the coupé-like roofline, everyday practicality is fully retained. This is complemented by the towing capacity: in the 4MATIC version, the GLC can tow up to 2.4 tons. With a drawbar load of 100 kilograms, up to four e-bikes can also be transported.
Mercedes sets a clear highlight in the interior with the Seamless Hyperscreen. With a diagonal of 99.3 centimetres, it offers an intuitive operating concept, variable ambient styles and state-of-the-art infotainment functions. This is complemented by the largest trim element installed in a Mercedes, which extends from the passenger side to the steering column. Ambient lighting and high-quality materials characterize the ambience.
The all-electric GLC has an 800-volt architecture and state-of-the-art nickel-manganese-cobalt batteries with a capacity of 94 kWh. This gives it a range of up to 713 kilometers. Consumption is just 14.9 kWh per 100 kilometers, making it the benchmark in its class.
For the first time, Mercedes is also offering the GLC with a fully certified vegan interior. All materials and even production aids are animal-free. Mercedes is also committed to recycling: trim elements are made from recycled materials, open-pore woods and natural fiber trim parts are available.
In addition to the trunk, the GLC has a 128-liter frunk in the front section. This can be used to stow more than just everyday luggage - Mercedes itself illustrates this with space for over 2000 golf balls. This detail underlines the versatility of the vehicle.
