Haberl has been manufacturing solid wood doors since the 19th century using traditional methods that have stood the test of time for decades. Each door is made from individual parts, painted by hand or carefully brushed, and deliberately manufactured independently of short-term trends. The result is a durable component that can last a lifetime as an eye-catching feature or a permanent element of a house.
Haberl has been working with solid wood since 1850 and still adheres to working methods that have evolved historically in door construction. The construction follows the principle of classic panel doors: instead of hollowing out a panel, individual parts are manufactured and joined by hand. Connoisseurs will immediately recognize this structure – a door reminiscent of historic castle doors, whose construction bears the hallmarks of traditional craftsmanship.
The hand-painted surface is one of the company's special features. White lacquered doors with slightly visible brush strokes have become rare. At Haberl, each coat is applied by hand, creating a warm, natural surface that can be easily repaired. Small scratches, caused by children for example, can be repainted immediately – the structure takes repairs well without disturbing the overall appearance.
Haberl offers brushed surfaces for more modern living styles. They are characterized by a non-slip feel, high suitability for everyday use, and a natural look. Since the surface is not completely smooth, minor damage is less noticeable and can be easily concealed. The surface has a warm and lively appearance – a deliberate contrast to industrially smooth doors. Haberl also produces rustic oak doors that can appear modern or rustic depending on the design. Just a few parameters can significantly change the effect of a solid wood door: a brownish tone, a rustic handle, milled V-joints, or the character of a traditional plank door. A different look can be chosen for the back, so that one door can cover two different styles. This flexibility makes Haberl doors versatile – from modern living areas to pantries, basements, or areas where a deliberate eye-catcher is desired.
One model shown is made entirely of solid wood and is manufactured with real rebate strips, wooden nails, and traditional joints. The door does not require any glue and is constructed in a way that was common in the past. Metal is only used when technically necessary. Haberl also manufactures special doors with leather seals – also made exclusively from natural materials. Such door models are usually one-offs and particularly suitable for representative areas. Since Haberl does not consider doors to be a mass-produced product, prices are always quoted transparently – including installation, taxes, and fittings. This creates clarity and enables a realistic assessment.
At Haberl, the consultation process does not begin with the customer's initial wishes, but with an analysis of the house. Floor materials, degrees of hardness, room effects, and styles are taken into account. There are basic rules that many builders are unaware of – for example, that the floor should be darker and harder than the element standing on it. Such rules are systematically reviewed so that a harmonious solution can be quickly found. Haberl stands out in particular when special solutions are required – in both old and new buildings. If someone values solid construction or works with solid wood walls, a chipboard door is hardly suitable. Haberl's solid wood doors are designed to remain in the house for decades. Aluminum panels inside ensure dimensional stability and a design that can withstand long-term stress.
Haberl also offers a hybrid door, a combination of a classic panel door and a modern, smooth surface. Many users prefer fewer edges, which is why the panel is deliberately designed to be smooth. The result is a door that remains traditional in its design language but has a contemporary look. This style is often found in northern Germany, frequently as a front door, but is presented here as an interior door. The model combines historical lines with simple elegance and is suitable for a wide range of living environments.
