The North Face - Ventrix jacket

One of The North Face's innovations at Outdoor in Friedrichshafen is the Ventrix jacket. The special feature of this material is the insulation. The principle of the insulating jacket for mountaineers and outdoor athletes is based on slits that open when moving and close when at rest. This means that heat is released during movement and stored when at rest.

Petra Nérette: Das fühlt sich mal ganz anders als all die anderen Jacken an, wie ein halber Schlafsack aber gemütlich schön. Hier am Ärmel ist auch ein Material dass ich noch nicht kenne aber ich kriege es gleich erklärt. Was ist das? Hortense Carlier: Das ist unsere Ventrix Jacke, eine Innovation von The North Face. Bei ihr geht es um Isolation, deshalb hat die Jacke Schlitze im Vorderbereich. Die Schlitze sind geschlossen wenn man sich nicht bewegt, wenn du läufst, kletterst und so weiter dann gehen die Schlitze auf. Die Jacke ist dadurch sehr atmungsaktiv wenn du es gerade brauchst und du wirst von ihr ebenso gewärmt, wenn du dich nicht bewegst. Petra Nérette: Das hier ist die Beispieljacke? Hortense Carlier: Ja, das ist die Damenjacke. Petra Nérette: Wenn man steht wird diese Jacke sehr warm und wenn man sich bewegt kühlt sie automatisch wieder ab. Hortense Carlier: Das sogenannte Ventrix Material ist vorne und auch hinten am Rücken drauf. Das ist eine Hybrid Jacke. Die Jacke hat Polartec Power Grid Hardface an den Ärmeln und an der Kapuze. Das Power Grid Material ist sehr robust. Beim Klettern zum Beispiel braucht man das robuste Material an den Armen und an der Kapuze. Im Stehen ist dir warm aber hast genug Atmungsaktivität wenn es zu warm wird.

Innovative outdoor jacket: insulation & breathability

Petra Nérette: I understand that, the jacket is warm and I can well imagine that it also keeps you nice and warm. But when I look through the Power Grid on the sleeves and the hood, there are a lot of holes and I wonder how it can keep you warm? Hortense Carlier: If you're climbing in summer, you need clothing with high breathability, which is why we chose this material. This Polartec Power Grid material keeps you really warm, maybe you should try it on. The fabric is also very comfortable. Petra Nérette: Yes, it feels good. Hortense Carlier: And it's very soft on the skin. Petra Nérette: Really very comfortable, I would just try it. Hortense Carlier: This is the women's jacket in light blue, the men's jacket is available in yellow. Petra Nérette: Are you the only suppliers with this jacket? Hortense Carlier: Yes, we are the only brand that now has Ventrix. It's a dynamic venting concept, we're the only ones at the moment. We have the hybrid jacket as just shown but also one that is made entirely of Ventrix material. We currently offer both options.
