Julius Zöllner used Kind + Jugend 2025 in Cologne to present a new product that blends harmoniously into children's rooms: animal-shaped bed bumpers. Previously known primarily as practical baby nests, these popular accessories now feature a playful, child-friendly design. Three models – crocodile, goose, and giraffe – mark the launch of this new line.
The special feature lies in the design of the animal heads. Unlike the classic snake models, the ends are richly detailed, making the figures appear more lifelike. Small sewn-on elements invite children to use the bed snakes not only as protection in bed, but also for cuddling and playing. The result is a product that remains functional while enhancing the appearance of the child's bed.
Julius Zöllner has chosen muslin for the new bed snakes. This material is breathable, easy to care for, and pleasantly soft. It therefore meets the requirements for products that come into direct contact with babies. Muslin not only ensures a high level of comfort, but also supports the cozy, warm feeling that bed snakes are designed to convey when sleeping and playing. The market launch is scheduled for October 2025.
Bed bumpers are a tradition at Julius Zöllner and, in addition to their decorative effect, fulfill a clear protective function. They serve as a bed surround, prevent the baby's head from bumping against hard bars, and offer additional protection from drafts. At the same time, they are a versatile accessory: they can be used in the crib, on the play mat, or as a cozy pillow while playing. The animal shapes reinforce this multifunctional character and make the bed snakes an integral part of the nursery design.
The idea arose from discussions within the Julius Zöllner creative team. Animals have always been an important theme in the world of children, both in toys and in interior design. The company has already implemented a farm series in its existing jersey line, which has been met with a positive response. The new animal bed bumpers pick up on this trend and combine it with the familiar functionality of the bumper models.
With the animal bed bumpers, Julius Zöllner is consistently continuing its line: existing products are being further developed and supplemented with creative details. The positive response to earlier bumper models forms the basis for now focusing even more strongly on design, play value, and emotional attachment. In this way, the company is demonstrating how functional baby equipment can be combined with modern design ideas.
