Miele presents dryer stack with environmentally friendly refrigerant

At the CMS trade fair in Berlin, Miele is presenting an innovation that is attracting attention in several respects. The highlight of the trade fair is a space-saving stack consisting of two dryers arranged one above the other. Each dryer has a capacity of eight kilograms, meaning that the dryer-dryer column can process a total of 16 kilograms of laundry in one go. In addition to its capacity, the technology is particularly impressive: a new refrigerant is used, which significantly reduces the ecological footprint and enables much more environmentally friendly drying.

The new stack combines two powerful dryers in one appliance. The stacked design requires little floor space, while doubling the capacity compared to a single appliance. A total of up to 16 kilograms of laundry can be dried per cycle. The concept is aimed not only at the building cleaning industry, but also at facilities such as retirement homes, catering establishments, and laundries, where large quantities of laundry have to be hygienically processed on a regular basis.

Miele relies on propane refrigerant with low GWP

A key difference to conventional dryers lies in the refrigerant. While many competitors still rely on R134a, which has a global warming potential (GWP) of around 1,400, Miele uses propane. This gas has a GWP of only three and drastically reduces the impact on global warming. Extensive technical adjustments have been made to safely handle the flammability of the gas. These include a modified control system and special enclosures in the appliance that minimize potential risks.

Safety and ease of use with the Miele dryer/dryer stack

Propane is familiar in everyday life, for example from gas bottles for barbecues. The circuit remains closed in the appliance, making leaks unlikely. However, if a leak does occur, the built-in safety measures prevent the gas from escaping. Miele has focused on ensuring that users can use the technology without hesitation – whether in care facilities, building cleaning or hotel operations. In addition to ecological development, Miele attaches great importance to ease of use. The display has a flag symbol that can be used to change the language at any time. This allows users from an international environment to easily understand and control the programs. In addition, a classic rotary selector switch ensures intuitive operation, while the settings are shown on the display at the same time.

Areas of application in building cleaning, elderly care, and catering

The dryer and ironing cabinet is versatile. In building cleaning, it enables mops and cloths to be cleaned quickly and hygienically. Nursing homes benefit from its high capacity, as large quantities of bed linen and clothing have to be processed every day. The appliance also offers advantages in catering, where tablecloths, towels, and work clothes are cleaned regularly. The key factor is that users receive an easy-to-understand appliance that makes their everyday work noticeably easier.

Miele Move Connect and Purus Innovation Award nomination

Alongside the hardware innovation, the Miele Move Connect software was introduced, which has been nominated for the Purus Innovation Award. It allows operating data from the appliances to be analyzed and service calls to be planned more effectively. Program sequences, running times, and error messages are recorded and can be forwarded directly to the responsible service technician. This enables predictive maintenance and reduces downtime. The digital solution offers particular advantages for facility managers and property managers, as it allows them to keep track of multiple appliances at all times and use resources in a targeted manner.

The combination of resource-saving refrigerant and intelligent software makes the dryer/dryer column an example of the further development of professional laundry technology. Miele demonstrates that ecological responsibility and digital networking can go hand in hand.
