At BOOT & FUN 2025, Desidus is presenting a spatial concept that leaves classic houseboat solutions far behind. The model is designed for couples who value peace and quiet, space, and an unrestricted view. The entire floor plan is designed to combine quality of living and proximity to the water as closely as possible.
The Lux Suite differs significantly in its design from earlier models such as last year's Living Luxboat. Instead of many small bedrooms, there is a single, spacious area that has been deliberately designed to be open. The king-size bed is positioned so that the view falls directly over the integrated Jacuzzi onto the water surface. The window fronts extend to the floor and visually open up the room in all directions. At 16 meters long and 4.80 meters wide, the dimensions remain compatible with the lock systems in the Mecklenburg and Brandenburg regions. The dimensions make full use of the available space without compromising maneuverability.
The sleeping area is the heart of the suite. The wide sliding glass door leads to a private terrace directly adjacent to the bedroom. The combination of a Jacuzzi, floor-to-ceiling windows, and direct access to the water creates an atmosphere more reminiscent of modern vacation architecture than a traditional boat. The bedroom has a separate bathroom with a large shower and side glazing. Plenty of storage space, a wide vanity unit, and a toilet with bidet function complete the amenities. The open-plan living area with kitchen forms the second large area of the suite and is also completely oriented towards the water.
The Luxboot has an interior design based on durable materials from the real estate sector. Due to the higher weight, Desidus uses aluminum hulls, which generate more buoyancy than PE hulls. This allows for the use of insulated glass, large storage requirements, and extensive building services. Eight to ten kilowatt battery storage units are on board, supplemented by a photovoltaic system with eight kilowatts of power. Jacuzzi, hot water, and underfloor heating are powered by solar energy as much as possible. The goal is to remain independent of jetty facilities while still offering a high level of comfort.
Since 2018, many Desidus models have been built primarily for the charter sector. However, demand is shifting significantly: in addition to rental users, there are increasingly owners who want to use their boat all year round or spend a large part of the year on it. The Lux Suite is technically and energetically designed for this continuous operation. The combination of insulating materials, solar energy supply, and large living space makes it attractive to people who consider a houseboat more as a permanent second or primary residence.
The Luxboat is manufactured in Klaipėda on the Lithuanian Baltic coast. There, Desidus works with a team that combines modern production processes with classic craftsmanship. The factory is supported by photovoltaics and is designed for short production runs. The interior is constructed using materials that are otherwise used in high-quality real estate: durable facade panels, sturdy wall structures, modern window technology, and sanitary installations that are deliberately designed to last for decades. This approach clearly distinguishes the Luxboot from conventional houseboats.
A recurring theme in the development is the opening of the rooms to the water. While many houseboats still feature small portholes or cubic facades, Desidus focuses on large glass surfaces and a design language inspired by yachts. This blend of residential architecture and yacht character appeals to a target group that values design but is also looking for a boat that is optimized for inland waters. Trips to neighboring European regions are also possible, as the boat is available in different categories.
