Arrow SAM Car: Revolutionary mobility for people with limited mobility

The Arrow SAM Car, a specially modified McLaren supercar, sets new standards in semi-autonomous mobility. With its advanced technology, it offers people with physical disabilities the opportunity to experience mobility and freedom in a completely new way. The concept is based on a combination of voice, breath and head control, enabling a fully paralyzed driver to operate the vehicle precisely and safely. The SAM Car reaches impressive speeds of up to 343 km/h and demonstrates how technology can overcome physical barriers.

Stunning technology for maximum control

At the heart of the project is an innovative control technology that enables the driver to steer the car using only breathing movements and head gestures. Acceleration is achieved by blowing air into a tube, while pulling the air back slows the vehicle down. Head movements are recorded by a camera that sends data to an AI-supported system in real time. This artificial intelligence evaluates the driver's movements sixty times per second and translates them into precise steering signals that steer the vehicle smoothly and safely.

Advanced AI for responsive driving

The control of the SAM Car is based on state-of-the-art technology, including the NVIDIA Jetson module, which processes both facial recognition and head movement patterns. The system continuously analyzes the driver's head position and compares it with previously stored data. As a result, unwanted movements, such as a sudden glance to the side, are detected and filtered to ensure safe steering. This system enables the driver to steer faster and more accurately than would be possible with conventional manual controls.
