Fair TV reporting Food Life 2017 Munich
TV to Food Life

With over 280 exhibitors, Food & Life in Munich is the meeting place for connoisseurs. Socrates is said to have once remarked that “bad people only live to eat and drink, but good people eat and drink to live!” With this in mind, Food & Life offers exquisite, traditional, and artisan-made specialties from all over Europe.

Regional specialties with artisanal traditions

Food&Life 2017 impressively demonstrated the diversity of the culinary landscape of regional producers. The focus was on products based on traditional recipes, transparent origins, and gentle processing. The trend toward short delivery routes and honest craftsmanship was clearly evident among many exhibitors. The products presented included:

  • hearty pastries from family-run bakeries
  • naturally fermented drinks without artificial additives
  • regional sausages and cheeses from our own production
Especially in times of increasing standardization, this authentic approach struck a chord with many visitors who consciously question the quality and origin of their food.

Enjoying plant-based foods – a new approach to conscious nutrition

Vegan and vegetarian nutrition was a central theme at the trade fair. The offerings ranged from sophisticated interpretations of classics to innovative plant-based creations that focus on providing a balanced supply of nutrients. The focus was not only on taste and variety, but also on ethical and ecological considerations. In the area of plant-based products, the following were presented, for example:

  • Freshly prepared dishes based purely on plants
  • High-quality meat alternatives made from natural ingredients
  • Beverages with functional ingredients for sports and everyday life
Food&Life thus confirmed once again that plant-based nutrition can be much more than just a sacrifice – it can be experienced as a culinary world in its own right.

A culture of enjoyment between tradition and innovation

Whether olive oils with protected designation of origin, hand-made chocolates, or sustainable sweeteners – at Food&Life 2017, enjoyment and high standards met on equal terms. Many exhibitors presented products that combine traditional methods with modern sensory technology and international flair. The fine delicacies included, for example:

  • Oils, vinegars, and spice blends from small manufacturers
  • Confectionery with alternative sugar sources and sustainable packaging
  • Delicatessen products from Mediterranean or Far Eastern craft traditions
This combination of authenticity and innovation attracted a wide audience – from nutrition-conscious consumers to passionate amateur chefs.
