With 406 exhibiting companies and around 7,500 visitors, Real Estate Arena 2025 in Hanover has established itself as a fixture within the German construction and real estate industry. For two days, the exhibition grounds became a meeting place for decision-makers from business, politics, science, and municipal practice. The trade fair provided new impetus for an industry that needs to reposition itself amid structural change, economic pressure, and increasing demands for sustainability and digitalization. The event focused less on traditional product presentations and more on professional dialogue. Once again, the Real Estate Arena saw itself as a working trade fair where solutions were discussed, partnerships initiated, and strategic perspectives developed. This approach gained significant importance, especially in a market environment characterized by uncertainty and investment reluctance.
A defining element of Real Estate Arena 2025 was the close interconnection between business and the municipal level. At the Hannover Fair, project developers, investors, and service providers met directly with representatives of cities, municipalities, and municipal housing companies. This form of exchange was specifically promoted and reflected the aspiration to think about real estate development not in isolation, but in the context of public interests. This approach was particularly evident at Europe's largest PropTech pitch event. More than 170 young companies presented digital solutions for the planning, construction, operation, and financing of real estate. Topics such as data management, AI-supported analysis, process automation, and digital approval procedures were the focus of attention. The high number of pitches illustrated how strongly digitalization is now perceived as the key to increasing efficiency and reducing costs. At the same time, the combination with the German Association of Cities added further relevance. Discussions on the circular economy, social housing, and sustainable urban development benefited from the direct exchange between municipal decision-makers and private-sector players. The Real Estate Arena thus demonstrated that municipal cooperation is not just a buzzword, but is increasingly becoming a structural component of successful project development.
In addition to digitalization, the transformation of the real estate industry took center stage. The Real Estate Arena 2025 addressed key challenges, including rising construction costs, regulatory requirements, and the pressure to create affordable housing. Panels and expert discussions made it clear that traditional business models are reaching their limits in many places and that new approaches are needed. The REAL Future Conference, organized by blackprint, complemented the trade fair program with keynotes, panels, and masterclasses. Topics such as artificial intelligence, resilient urban structures, and new financing models were examined from different perspectives. The focus was less on short-term trends and more on long-term strategies for a resilient real estate industry. The combination of trade fair, conference, and municipal dialogue made the Real Estate Arena a platform where complex interrelationships were viewed holistically. The format made it possible to link technological, economic, and social aspects.
Despite the tense market situation, there was a palpable sense of optimism at the Real Estate Arena. Exhibitors reported high-quality visitors and targeted discussions. Companies such as Schindler, Züblin, and the Bünting Group emphasized that the trade fair had enabled concrete business opportunities to be initiated and was less characterized by non-committal walk-in customers. The housing industry also made intensive use of the platform. The so-called WoWi Quarter provided a space for discussion on affordable housing, neighborhood development, and long-term portfolio strategies. Representatives of municipal and cooperative housing companies used the trade fair to find out about new cooperation models and technical solutions. The positive response showed that there is a growing demand for practical, dialogue-oriented trade fair formats. The Real Estate Arena has established itself as a place where problems are not only identified, but concrete solutions are discussed.
The next edition of the Real Estate Arena has already been announced. From May 20 to 21, 2026, the trade fair will once again take place in Hanover. In view of the positive development and the growing importance of municipal and digital topics, it can be assumed that the trade fair will continue to expand its significance. Real Estate Arena 2025 has shown that the construction and real estate industry is ready to take on new ideas and actively address the challenges of the coming years. Hanover has once again proven itself to be a suitable location for cross-industry dialogue that brings together business, local authorities, and innovation.
