The young gallery BERMAN CONTEMPORARY specializes in contemporary art. This new movement is gaining momentum. Many people remember African art as figurative art, whereas contemporary art plays with abstraction.

Berman Contemporary is exhibiting 3 young female artists from South Africa at Art Cologne. The gallery owner introduces us to the artist Chrisél Attewell, who began her artistic career with painting, mainly landscapes. After moving from Johannesburg to Cape Town, she was inspired by the sea with its shades of blue and green. In 2022, Chrisél Attewell expanded her interests to include sculptures. The new spectacular objects are made of glass, which, as we know, is made of sand, and chunks of stone that cover the blown glass, so to speak. The objects create a connection between water and beach.
